The Fine Arts
Center and Gallery at MSC is located on the grounds of the Mount Senario
Center, former campus of Mount Senario College which is now owned by a
private party who graciously supports this arts organization through
providing this space.
The Fine Arts Center and
Gallery (FAC) was established to be the place where artists may interact
with the general public, patrons and other artists, and as a center
where individuals may take classes in the arts to enhance their personal
abilities. The FAC Gallery showcases creations by artists and writers
from Rusk County and throughout the region; everything is available for
purchase.
The Fine Arts Center and Gallery functions
under the guidance of a volunteer board of directors, and daily
operations are staffed by volunteers, many of whom are artists whose
works are displayed.
The FAC offers the Lounge,
a place for meetings, conversation, relaxation and good will, with a
small gallery for rotating exhibits of local artwork such as those
submitted for the annual "Create Your Heart Out" heart-themed contest
and those chosen for inclusion in the annual Flambeau Reclaimed Mine Art
Calendar.
In cooperation with the
Pioneer Bank in downtown Ladysmith, the FAC also arranges monthly
exhibits in the Bank's side street meeting room. Recent exhibits have
included a retrospective of the works of John Emil Stevenson, "The Hunt
in Rusk County," and "Wonderful Winter."
As the Mount
Senario Center grows, the FAC may be joined by a children's museum,
education center, bookstore, restaurant and other entities. Meanwhile,
there is much to see and experience in the Fine Arts Center and Gallery
today.

Several feasibility studies regarding higher
education opportunities at the former Mount Senario College campus in
Ladysmith, Wisconsin have recently been conducted. Each study indicated
a high need and interest for higher education in this region of the
state. To fill the education void in the region, we are working toward
establishing the Mount Senario Center ( MSC ) focusing on
life-long learning opportunities for residents throughout the region.
The mission of the MSC is to meet the
diverse educational needs of adults in northwest Wisconsin.
To accomplish this goal, we have been
communicating with several colleges and universities to join our
partnership in forming the MSEC , to work collaboratively in providing a
wide array of undergraduate (degree completion), graduate level,
continuing and professional education, and non-credit / enrichment
courses that otherwise would not be available at just one school.
