LAKES CLASSIFICATION MEETING, MONDAY,

MARCH 10, 2008, 5 P.M. LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER

Present: Bob Lorkowski, Kathleen Seilheimer, John Styczinski Jr., Bob Wiltrout, Fred Cook, Al Lechleitner, Phil Schneider, Bob Nelson, Paula Carow, Jason Gillis, John Stencil, Dale Wozniak.  Others present: Ken Parejko and CeCe Tesky.

 The meeting was called to order by Chair Wiltrout at 5 PM.

 Motion by J Gillis/2^nd by J. Styczinski to accept the December 10, 2007 minutes.  Carried.

 Motion by D. Wozniak/2^nd by A. Lechleitner to accept Jan 14, 2008 minutes.  Carried

 Discussion about Ken’s presentation to the Rusk County Board. Discussion about how different criteria are related to each other.

 Motion by J. Stencil/2^nd by J. Gillis to throw out correlation issues because we can’t prove them.  Motion not carried.

 Discussion about whether or not more correlations should be done.  Ken will do some for the next meeting.

 Lakes Spring Sampling – Can we use DNR numbers for those lakes or should we have Ken take samples?

 Questions about when the paleocores will be done.

 Motion by F. Cook/2^nd by D. Wozniak not to do spring sampling.  Roll call vote as follows: B. Wiltrout –Y, F. Cook – Y, A. Lechleitner – Y, J. Stencil – Y, P. Schneider – Y, B. Nelson – Y, J.  Ken prepared and distributed a handout explaining the history of how we adopted criteria.  F. Cook voiced that he appreciated the work Ken did to prepare the handout.

 Discussion about what to do with unnamed lakes.  Suggestion to classify them on an as needed basis.

 Motion by F. Cook/2^nd by J. Styczinski to classify unnamed lakes on an as needed basis.  As needed means when development is proposed within 300’ of the lake.  Carried.

 Motion by J. Stencil/2^nd by D. Wozniak not to classify steams and river and creeks.  Carried.

 Ken distributed info about how DNR classifies O and ERW water.

 Motion by J. Stenci/2^nd by B. Nelson that we don’t pursue regulations.  Discussion followed.  Carried.

 Motion by B. Lorkowski/2^nd by P. Carow to invite Lynn Marcum to next month meeting.  Carried.

 Next meeting date will be April 14, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. at the LEC

 Motion by J. Stencil/2^nd by  D. Wozniak to adjourn.  Carried.
