One correction about the next meeting date (June 11th, not July 9th). The web-link address was clarified. Zoning Report Zoning recommended that present distances separating campgrounds be changed. Motion by G. Gaier, second by K. Sielheimer to send agendas and minutes by e-mail to members if possible and snail mail to members who request that. The web page flambeauvalley.com is published, not perfected, but published. Jason Gillis offered to make up a document listing the "bad reasons" for creating a Lakes Classification System. Ken P. introduced himself as the new Lakes Classification Coordinator for those of us who missed the previous meeting. He led discussion by "re-visiting" our goals and purposes. This "power-point" presentation may show up on our website for our review if we can make it happen. He reviewed a list of things we need to know to make good decisions. Link to PowerPoint Presentation 06-11-07 Meeting An educational forum on lakes will be in Telemark June 21 and 22nd. Agenda was distributed. The registration deadline is June 16th. Value of Waterfront Property booklet will be available at the next meeting. Historical and current information about Rusk County lakes will be used in the decision process. There was a lot of discussion about Trophic Status Index, the correlation between phosphorus and algae, property values, oxygen levels, secchi disk depths and SWIMS information on the DNR web site. We have to decide which lakes to do paleocores on: little development (5) and considerable development (5) each; total TSI on those lakes, also. We have to decide which other lakes to gather data on. A couple of lists were discussed and may have to be changed a bit. Sampling dates, parameters and budget were discussed. Non-paleocore lakes will be sampled, but not as intensively as paleocore lakes. Effects of boat traffic will be measured on 3 motorized and 3 non-motorized lakes. We need one liter bottles for sample collection. Bring 'em in. Discussion about what information is needed in addition to water quality information, such as soils, number of houses available, pictures, etc. We briefly discussed what types of information we can collect either for logistic or budget reasons, about streams. Motion by G. Gaier, second by Dale Wozniak to authorize Ken to start classification process and sampling according to the outline presented. Motion carried. The next meeting will be on Monday, July 9th at 5:00 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center. Motion by Aaron Knops, second by J. Stencil to adjourn at 7:45 p.m. Submitted by Paula Carow
